Blog Boycott Day

#BlogBoycottDay is back again. But even if today wasn't #BlogBoycottDay, Day 5' of The SITS Spring Into Action Photo Challenge is a doozy and is going to take me all day (weekend?!) to accomplish. Look for it sometime this weekend or early Monday morning. It will be worth the wait!

Until then, come link up at A Belle, A Bean and a Chicago Dog and take a day off from the blogs!

Social Networking {Day 4}

Social networking can be completely overwhelming.  I was at Twitter holdout myself for a long time.  But once I dove in?  I fell in love.

My two favorite social networking sites are Twitter and Facebook.  For me they serve very different purposes.  Here are the basics:

Twitter
The use of hashtags and search features are genius and it makes it so easy to connect with others on topics of interest.  It is also so simple and fun to jump in on conversations and promote your blog and posts.  The downside to this is that it goes fast.  Really fast.  The more people you follow the faster the tweets fly and it can be easy to fall behind or get overwhelmed.

Because Twitter goes so fast, you can promote the same post throughout the day without feeling like you are spamming your followers.  Promoting can be asking a question and leaving your link, tweeting the title of the post with a link, etc.

Facebook
Everyone is on Facebook.  Well, everyone except my husband, which makes no sense because he has a Twitter account, but I digress.  Everyone is on Facebook. Besides having your own personal account, in a few steps you can also create a Fan Page.  Sharing a post on Facebook with your fans/friends is as easy as one click.

When promoting posts on Facebook, I like to do the during breakfast/morning coffee share, the lunch time share and the end of the day share.  Those seem to be the highest traffic volume times and the way to get the most exposure.

What are your social networking tips?

New Pets! {Day 3: Lighting}

Looking for more information on the SITS Spring Into Action Photo Challenge?  Clicky.

Two new pets have invaded our house and the girls are in l-o-v-e.  We have added a soft bunny with floppy ears and a purple unicorn.  Yes, purple unicorn.  These pets are of the pillow variety.

They each chose their own and Madeline snuggled her bunny the entire visit to Target.  The cashier thought this was the cutest thing ever and suggested I snap a pic.  Thanks to the photo challenge the camera was in the diaper bag.  I have to agree, it is really cute.

The snuggling continued the whole way home.

And while I used to think these Pillow Pets were the dumbest thing ever,

you should have seen how fast they ran to their rooms for naps!

Three cheers (one from Mads, one from Ellie, one from Mama) for the Pillow Pets!

*All photos were taken with the flash off.  I added a little bit of contrast with photo 1, photo 2 was cropped & made 'gritty' and photo 3 was cross processed and gritty.  Picnik.com was used for all editing.
