Today when we were driving home from grocery shopping and I glanced in the rear view mirror to check out what was 'look worthy' I saw my two girls reaching across the empty middle seat to hold hands.
So freaking cute.
I pulled over and *fumbled* around in the diaper bag to grab my cell phone. After snapping a pic I sent it to Ryan immediately. He awwwwww'd right along with me.
There is just something about seeing them together that I can't get enough of. Like when Madeline wakes up first from a nap and I leave her in the living room playing with a pile of stacking cups to run and grab Ellie. When the two of us walk into the room Madeline is squawking, squealing and waving like a loon. She is that excited to see her sister.
Elizabeth, 2.5 and Madeline at 2 weeks old.
I can barely remember a year ago when I was so worried about Ellie adjusting to having a sister and the baby we hadn't even met yet getting enough attention and love when her big sis had been our world for 2.5 years.
Sure we have our share squabbles and *fumbles* but most of the time it's a love fest over here and I'm enjoying every blissful second.

That's great. I wouldn't call it a love fest at my house. But they play well a lot if the time.
ReplyDeleteClarabel's no longer in a 5 point harness and it freaks me out when she leans out of her seat to hold onto Laila. She is basically out of her seat belt. I have to shut it down.
oh that is so sweet! your girls are so preciously adorable!! hkay and ava are 4.5 years apart, but hannah loves her little sister and ava is always uber excited to see her big sis. ava's probably going to be sad when she hits one and her carseat is turned around....she won't be able to see her big sister after that (i have a suburban and hannah's in the 3rd row seat). i hope hope hope they're close as they grow up.
ReplyDeleteThat is really so sweet! Little sister always has to have a kiss from big brother before nap time and I'm so glad she obliges because it makes her day! Holding hands on their own volition...that is just priceless :)
ReplyDeleteAdorable! Mine are 4 years apart (boy, then girl) and I still remember wondering how in the world my son would manage having someone to share his parents with. I agonized over it, and it all melted away the first time I saw him with her. He was her main source of laughs, clapping, and entertainment when they were little! I loved watching them together.
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
I love this post. Your children are amazing. My baby boy will turn 9 months old tomorrow, and, while I can't wait to have another baby, I still wonder how he will transition when we have baby #2. I am planning to have them about 2 years apart, similar to the age difference of Ellie & Madeline. I love to hear these sweet stories.
