This morning when she woke up she couldn't get a breath and we rushed her into the bathroom for steam. After her nails and been clipped and painted and the shower water began to run cold, she got her voice back and could talk.
Scary.
I brought her in to the pediatrician this morning and got the croup {along with a surprise seasonal allergies} diagnosis. We now have prescriptions for liquid steroids and Zyrtec.
Good thing we have a cute humidifier.
After buying a Vick's humidifier for $12.99 last year, Ellie was completely freaked out by it's 'mean green light' and cried when we turned it on. So we ended up with this cute little guy who has 'magic steam' to make her feel all better. The Crane humidifiers are all cool mist, too, which is great.
A humidifier is one of those things - like infant tylenol - that you'll need in the middle of the night when you least expect it so be prepared!
If an elephant isn't your favorite, there is also Hello Kitty
Pig
Dragon
and Duck
There is one to match any nursery or big girl/boy room and they are all available in the Ellie-Town Open Sky Shop {along with lots of other fun things!}.

Ooh, the croup. Poor thing! I had it in kindergarten, and was hospitalized actually. hope she feels better soon!

Your baby having breathing trouble is so scary. We got a high end European humidifier early on, but these are quite cute. Thanks for visiting from Mom Loop... as am I now. I already followed you on GFC (just checked)... do you have a facebook fan page? I sometimes find my favorite blog updates on there fastest. Please "like" my humble little daddy blog if you... well... like. Have a great evening!

OMG, how cute is that dragon? We've had to go the nebulizer route before and it stinks!
ReplyDeletePoor Baby! The Crop is everywhere lately. Hoping for a speedy recovery.
