We went on a safari! According to Ellie. But really we just were at the Wildlife World Zoo. http://www.wildlifeworld.com/
Right when you walk in there is a petting zoo with what must be the hungriest petting zoo animals in the history of petting zoos, children were practically getting knocked down by starving goats. This is when the Mama Llama biting occurs...
I actually think he bit because he took offense to being called a camel by Arizona school children but either way, as Nonna was putting in her quarters into the gumball type machines to get food for Ellie to feed the animals, a llama with a REALLY long neck stuck his head through the squares of the fencing and literally bit the hand that was about to feed him. It wasn't so much of a bite, really. It was actually more like a hickey. A hickey from a llama! About the funniest thing I have seen in my entire life!

The scene of the crime! That llama has a long neck!

After we all stopped laughing hysterically, we carried on about our safari. Ellie fed giraffes!
After she got a big giraffe lick, she figured out the best approach was just to drop the food on the his long tongue instead.
After the giraffes we saw a rhino. Or what Arizona children call an elephant. Seriously, we need to work on zoo animals with these kids!
Maddie on her way to see the rhino. This was her first visit to a zoo!

Ellie felt so bad for the rhino and kept asking why he was so sad. She was trying to make him feel better when he started to walk towards her. There was no fence, just big wooden logs to keep him in (and she didn't realize they would keep him in) so when he started towards her she took off running and screaming saying he was going to get her. Too funny!
Continuing on our safari. Ellie looked through the bushes because animals could be anywhere!

And Maddie took a rest. Again. ;)
The Wildlife World Zoo is famous for their white tigers. They are bred there and the cubs are so so cute. Here is an adult taking a rest in the sun. After we enjoyed a relaxing and s.l.o.w. boat ride around the zoo, we had lunch in the new aquarium by the pink flamingos.
If you are in the Phoenix area, definitely check out the Wildlife World Zoo. It is the closest to the animals we have ever been. Just watch out for the llamas!
Ellie and I were talking about the AZ trip and Wildlife Park tonight. She remarked that the llama was not a "good boy" and that "somebody should tell him it's bad to bite." I agree Ellie.
