Frank would be proud.

Frank Lloyd Wright would be proud of the house Ellie and I built out of our living room couch cushions and throw pillows this morning. It was not your typical, haphazard cushion house. This house had a cantilevered roof with skylights. Just to be accurate, I checked with my Frank Lloyd Wright expert, Jenny, and indeed Frank designed homes with skylights. Usually his skylights had stained glass and had electricity so they could be seen even at night.

So that is your architectural history lesson for the day and here are the pics of our house:

Our first design did not include the skylights.

But after much planning, we altered the design a bit.

If anyone is interested in viewing Frank Lloyd Wright homes (not made out of couch cushions), tickets are on sale now for the Wright Plus tour in May. http://www.gowright.org/wright-plus.html

This will be my second year volunteering. Last year was so much fun and the houses are AMAZING. A great way to spend a Saturday. :)
