Me: Ellie, Mother's Day is coming up and we need to pick out a few gifts.
Ellie: Oh! You get gifts for mama's for Mother's Day?
Me: Yes! What are you going to get Mama?
Ellie: This! {hands me a little birdie dish from our hall table}
Me: Hmmm. Maybe you could pick out something new?
Ellie: I know! I'll get you a BIG, BIG beautiful dress!
Me: Does it have to be BIG, BIG? Can't it just be beautiful?
Ellie: Nope. BIG, BIG. You are a grown up!
Then later today after I came back from getting a cut and highlights...
Ellie: Mama, I missed you. But your hair looks beautiful!
Me: Thanks, Ellie!
Ellie: So, did you get to pick a toy out of the treasure chest?
Me: No, Honey. I went to the grown up hair cut place.
Ellie: Oh, that's not as fun is it?
Kids are so funny and say the best thing!! I LOVE the name Ellie!! In fact if I ever have a little girl that is the name I'd love to give her! I wanted to come by and say thanks for helping me celebrate my SITS day on Monday!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the treasure chest story! Kate's like that, but with lollipops.
ReplyDeleteKids are too cute! Can't wait til GG can talk. It's hard to tell what gems she'll come up with!
ReplyDeleteI have four kids. When the two youngest were little they were convinced there was a big person world and a little person world which they were part of--not sure how they classified their older brother and sister but probably as being part of the big person world. They had their own code they used (in part because the older of the two younger boys was electrocuted when he was two---very long sad wonderful story of an incredible child--he was revived but had serious isses--anyway i'm drifting and I DO have a point). I used to get the greatest delight out of the crazy things they would say when they were little. It made me realize their little heads were filled with such an amazing, incredible, wonderful (and probably frightening at times) world. They talk about the child within us a lot--I'm sure that part of that is the magic we had as kids to see the world through a very different lens. anyway, after my missive here...happy saturday sharefest which has drifted into what i am now calling my sunday selebration!! have a great day! dianeswords.wordpress.com
