We all love Ellie's school and she is so excited to go. She is making new friends and having a wonderful first school experience.
But preschool is kind of hardcore.
The calendar is permanently taped up since almost missed 'wear red to school day' a few weeks back, I consult it multiple times a week.
There are book orders, field trips, pajama day, picture day and on and on. Ellie has had two homework assignments so far. One was to make an 'About Me' page, which we totally rocked if you ask me.

Not sure why it's on its side!
And the other was to create a riddle, rhyme or joke that didn't have to make sense. Ellie came up with: Knock Knock Who's there? Milk Milk who? Milk is gonna have to turn into orange juice!
She thought it was hysterical and couldn't get over how clever she was.
So last night after we returned home from a dinner out when Ellie told me we had to do homework I panicked. She said, "We have to do the homework about the lions."
What the? Homework about lions? There is no mention of anything lion on the calendar. I asked her to repeat it. This time it sounds like lime-ons. Lemons and limes? Now I was totally confused!
On the way to get ready for bed I kept asking her what the homework was about. Exasperated, I asked her to describe it. She said, "You know, Mama, it's supposed to be funny? And maybe have words that sound the same? You know - why-men."
And then finally I realized that her allergy medicine hadn't kicked in and she was saying RHYMING. Yes the rhyming homework wasn't due until Tuesday but, being the overachievers that we are, we turned it in last Thursday.
Now we are just left with Picture Day tomorrow and trying to figure out how to teach Ellie to use the school bathroom while wearing footed pajamas. She has to have footed pajamas for wear your pajamas to school day. I'm going to try to persuade her with a new nightgown and slippers instead but we'll see.
Is your preschool hardcore? |
that is such a CUTE little joke! haha, seriously so funny! :) I loved it! I bet it was even cuter coming from her!!

Enjoy your week!!!
That is too funny! Since Mia goes to daycare and it is pre-K she does get homework sheets, pictures are tomorrow (she excited to take pics with her Brother) and we do have dress up days..but it isn't as hard core. Thank goodness. I couldn't keep up!
ReplyDeleteKate makes up her own knock knock jokes, too. Cracks me up every time because she really thinks they're good!
ReplyDeleteI find her calendar to be very busy on the eyes! it's always someone's treat day, Star of the Week, Show N Tell, Chapel Day, special community visitor, etc. It's a lot to keep track of!
Adorable!
ReplyDeleteYeah we're finding the same thing to be true of my son's preschool. Just so many events and things to keep track of that I find myself checking {and re-checking} that calendar all the time! Each month I move the events that I need to prepare for onto my Entourage calendar so I can get reminders. If preschool is this hardcore, I'm afraid of what elementary school will be like!!

Cute! Cute! Cute!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, our preschool is hardcore. Everyday I have to remember something extra & am often triple checking the calendar. It can get overwhelming. Huh? Preschool? Overwhelming?
I am so not ready for JDaniel to start preschool. It sounds like there is a lot of keep track off.
ReplyDeleteNot quite that hard-core but we do have parent-teacher conferences coming up next week which have me totally panicked! Just hoping my daughter is not the one in the class that is behind.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the footed pajama dilemma. My daughter can't use the potty in those things either, it would be a disaster for her to wear those to school!
This is cracking me up...so much to look forward to when GG gets to be school age!
ReplyDeletePrincess and I always spend the drive to school making up Knock Knock jokes- she thinks it is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteI just sent my husband to the store tonight with Princess to buy new pjs for Pajama day on Wednesday. Princess is so picky about her clothes that lately she hasn't been wearing pajamas - she just wears a clean pairs of leggings and t-shirt, but I know she will want real PJs for Pajama day. At one point he texted me to tell me that I totally owed him! Ha!
Hopefully Ellie will have a fabulous pajama day!!
