I know, I've been a "mother" for three years and 17 days. And I've been "Momma" since Ellie was six months old. But tonight I became a "Mom."
How, do you ask, did I become a Mom? Well, it's easy. I put together the snack bags for Ellie's soccer team. If being "Snack Mom" doesn't complete the transition to "Momhood" I don't know what else can. Oh wait, buying a Minivan. That would be one step up. A step that, as a 29 year old, I vow never to make...at least until I'm over 32.
So it's weird. Being a Mom. I was expecting to feel this way the first day of preschool or maybe kindergarten. But it totally crept up on me today when I was buying Goldfish prepacked in bulk and putting them in the grocery cart next to 10 pack of Apple Juice boxes. And being the concerned Mom that I am, I also have dried fruit that is Gluten/Soy/Peanut/Tree nut/Dairy Free in the snack bags. If any kid is allergic to apples though, they're on their own. ;)
I mean, I'm barely recovering from having a three year old and now this. It's a good thing I have Baby Maddie around to keep me feeling young!
Oh, and GO DUCKLINGS!
