Co Conspirators

I'll be honest.  My girls and my dog do not have the relationship I envisioned.  There is no snuggling and cuddling under the covers and really, Oxford could care less what they are doing unless the are getting in the way of his sun or blowing a fire truck whistle that is the latest birthday party goodie bag score.

But, Oxford, being the scavenger he is, will become instant BFF's with anyone who sits in the highchair.  He did it with Ellie and we discovered his latest partnership this afternoon during lunch.

As Madeline was shoveling in the Colby Jack and grapes that I had expertly cut into a million and two pieces, we noticed her looking back over her shoulder and down towards the ground with a sly smile on her face.  We were aware that Oxford was eating a few Puffs here and there but we had no idea that Madeline was filling her chubby fists with food and letting Oxford lick them out of her hand.

I know - yuck yuck yuck yuck yuck!

Madeline looked a little embarrassed when she realized we were onto them.  She didn't hand feed him for the rest of the meal.  But he waited patiently for the little hand to come down and sneak him a treat.

Until he realized the jig was up and he should just take what he could get.

And as much as it looks like Oxford must be eating Madeline's toes, he wasn't.  He was able to grab some of the left over smashed bananas, Puffs, cheese and grapes though!

  1. On the plus side it keeps you from having to clean the floor. I am always embarrassed when we eat somewhere without a dog to clean up after the kids and I see the 'real' mess they make.

  2. Is Oxford a yorkie?! I have a little yorkie named Giorgio-yeah he doesn't have much to do with the kid unless food is involved! lol

Your blog is super cute--so are your kiddos!

  3. PS Elizabeth Grace was the girl name we had picked out before we knew we were having a boy...I LOVE THAT NAME!

  4. When we're all home for the holidays, my brother's dog always goes to the person who he thinks is the weakest link (usually my mom) who's most likely to break my brother's rule to not feed the dog people food.

  5. kate and jack have disdain for one another, whereas maddie and jack share a mutual love. jack will love anyone with food, however.

  7. Kate, Oxford is a Yorkie. I'll never forget the first time I saw a Yorkie puppy and new that instant that I must have one. ;)

Then poor Oxford got bumped to the bottom of the totem pole.

Liz, maybe there is hope for Maddie and Oxford to be BFF's then!

Melissa, dogs are a must once babies sit in high chairs! Oxford just won't eat anything green. Other than that he snatches it up quicker than we could shoo him away. :)
